The RRB NTPC exam is one of the most grueling exams in the country as it demands a lot of patience and perseverance from the students.

This means that the students need to prepare extremely hard to crack the code here, and one of the key sections that stand in the way is Mathematics.

Now, we know that Mathematics is a subject that has been giving nightmares to students since time immemorial.

However, the distinct advantage that this subject provides is that if you are clear of the concept, and if you know the basics, it will help you in being sure about the marks you are going to get, since the correctness of the response is purely objective in nature, and not at all subjective.

This means that you should work extremely hard towards securing this section, and we are going to discuss few of the strategies that we think you should employ in order to clear this section.

#1. Be extremely thorough about the preparation for this section

Please, do not prepare half-heartedly for this section. As mentioned above, there is nothing subjective about a Mathematics question. Either a solution is correct or incorrect. There is no in-between here.

Similarly, there shouldn’t be any in-between when it comes to your preparation, and you must push yourself to excel in the subtopics that you have chosen to excel in.

#2. Make sure that you have memorized as many formulae, tables, squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots as possible

RRB is a lengthy exam, which means that you are always short on time. Therefore, you can’t waste too much time on a question, and this means that certain things like formulae, tables, squares, bubes, square roots, cube roots should be on your tips, and you shouldn’t be squandering time on such calculations.

#3. Do not forget to practice the shortcut tips and calculation tricks like Vedic Mathematics

Calculation tricks are the hallmark of any successful candidate clearing an exam, and that is true for this exams as well.

You can potentially explore the area of Vedic Mathematics since it primarily deals with fast calculations, allowing students to score some easy answers as well as cutting down time for the rest of the questions.

Once you have mastered this, you really won’t do multiplication and division normally.

#4. Identify your weak subtopics and make sure that you can work extra hard on those topics

Unless you are a Mathematics protégé like Ramanujam, everybody has certain weak topics, even if it is their favorite subjects.

So be it Number System, Geometry or Algebra, make sure that you are putting extra emphasis on those topics, since they can change the entire complexion of your results, even if they are just 2 or 3 questions.

#5. Give as many past year papers and mock exams as possible

And lastly, make sure that you are giving as many mocks and previous year papers to familiarize yourself with the paper pattern and time distribution.

In this case, you need to ensure that you start with them only when you have finished the syllabus, otherwise they can prove to be a huge confidence hit as well.

Now that we are sure that you know how to prepare for this section, we would also recommend joining a RRB NTPC forum that will allow you to stay up-to-date with the exam, and notify you in case of any changes.
