If you are not hyped about Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones s8 right now, there’s a high probability you might be secretly following the upcoming OnePlus phones. Yes, you read it right.

We might be looking at three new OnePlus phones in the 7 range if you include the upcoming OnePlus 5G phone, the basic version of the OnePlus 7, and a potential “pro” version if you want to believe the rumors.

You have to agree that OnePlus phones always carry high expectations, but the best part of it is that they have delivered to those expectations. So what makes OnePlus the ideal phone? for me it is the flagship tag and good looks, with flagship features and a price tag that’s really not flagship range. This love affair for many has made the upcoming OnePlus 7 range even more exciting.

Since the past few days, we are getting more clarity as the details start to pile up and here’s what we’ve heard about the OnePlus 7 ahead of the official launch events.

Price and Release Date

The leaks proved to be right, again. We’ll see OnePlus 7 for the first time on 14th May with launch events planned in four cities including in BIEC Bengaluru and we are pretty sure that phone will be made available by end of May.

Thankfully, if you can’t make it to the launch event, you can watch the livestream OnePlus’ official YouTube, Facebook, Twitter account.

The phone is expected to be priced, somewhere near Rs.60,000 for the middle model of OnePlus 7 Pro which comes with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM and somewhere near Rs.55,000 for the base pro model that reportedly has 128GB storage and 6GB RAM.

As far as the standard OnePlus 7, we can expect the price on similar lines with OnePlus 6T i.e near Rs.40,000.

The Camera

Previous OnePlus phones have been sporting some of the best cameras that smartphones of this range can have. Stepping up their A-game, OnePlus plans to add a triple-lens camera to both the base and the pro version.

The regular OnePlus 7 variant will come with a dual rear camera system, and not the tri-camera system that the Pro model might feature.

If the rumors are to be believed, the Pro version will come with a primary 48-megapixel sensor, along with 16-megapixel wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens.

Specifications

Thanks to the reliable leaked images from Chinese website Weibo we can tell you that the Pro model will come up with Snapdragon 855, something which CEO Pete Lau confirmed at Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit.

The source also suggests that the phone will boast of a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging, but no wireless charger, something that OnePlus isn’t planning to have in their new phones anytime soon.

Like OnePlus 6T the new flagships also won’t have a headphone jack.

The leaks suggest no notch as well a larger screen size.

No notch anymore

Phones like Honor Magic 2, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, and also on the Vivo Nex S have implemented the ‘’no notch’ strategy in their phones and OnePlus seems to be following in their footsteps.

The OnePlus 7 is planning to do away with the dewdrop notch which was earlier seen in OnePlus 6T, and will instead include a pop-up selfie camera instead. This year we can expect the highest resolution ever on a OnePlus device with a Quad HD+ display and a Super AMOLED panel.

Although I am a OnePlus 5T user, the upcoming flagship is something that I and others are really looking forward to especially considering the new design which is set to feature a ‘no notch’ display and only time will tell whether OnePlus can keep up with their increasing reputation with their series of new phones. P.S. I am a very satisfied OnePlus user.
