Education fairs are commonly known as just a place to while away some time, get to talk to a few foreigners and spend some time having some tea and biscuits.
I have not really encountered anyone really who genuinely has gotten something useful out of these fairs except some heavy pre-made packets full of pamphlets, college brochures and the occasional complimentary pens and notepads.
However, what a lot of people don’t realize is that it is not the education fair that is useless, but the people attending themselves don’t know how to utilize it effectively.
There are a lot of errors that people make when attending education fairs like not bringing along the correct documents, sitting quietly when the delegate is speaking, not having questions and more.
So let us tell you of a few ways to fully exploit these education fairs so you get the maximum benefit:
1. Don’t Be Lost:
One of the worst things you can do, if attending an education fair, is just sitting there quietly, after the delegate has finished giving an introduction of the college. Do not, in any circumstance, just sit there without any good and well-researched questions.
Your entry into a particular college could be made a lot easier if the delegate feels that you are genuine in your interest.
Most of the times, education fair organizers put up a list of all the colleges attending the fair, use that to do a bit of research of the universities that offer your course of interest. This way not only will you learn about the college itself, but also figure out if you have any questions or doubts.
2. Don’t Ask About Scholarships:
Or at least don’t ask about scholarships in the beginning only. A way to make a good impression on the delegate is to show your research and sincerity towards that particular college.
Ask some good questions in the beginning related to the course and college and its facilities and then move the talk to any available scholarships that the college might have.
Make sure you understand everything about what scholarship is available for which course, how much is the amount, what are the requirements and understand the full complete process on how to go about it.

3. Dress Smartly:
The delegate will judge you if you show up in street casual clothing and not really give time to your questions. Most of the time they will answer the basics and send you on your way if you are dressed shoddily.
At least some semi formal clothing like a button-up shirt and jeans should get your point across that you are serious about this.
Also, along with that, make sure to carry all the necessary documents, this includes but is not limited to education certificates, mark sheets, certificates for any extra-curricular activities you might have done, and passport.
4. Ask About Work Opportunities:
One important thing many people forget to ask about is the work opportunities during and after the course. Some universities and country laws do not allow a student to stay back and work. So in order to clear up the confusion, ask about what companies come for placement, the placement rate, whether one can work after the course is over.
These few points can really help you get the most out of an education fair.
