In a time when we all sign up for the gym next door and never really go there, why not try a change in our diet instead?

The Buddha bowl seems to provide an easy answer to our health-related queries when the bloated stomach or stomach upsets are the most common problems we regularly face.

One might wonder the reason behind its name- the Buddha bowl-why is it called so?

There is nothing religious associated with this meal for it to be called such. The dish is consumed traditionally by vegetarian monks and is a perfectly balanced diet. Over the years it has become well-known for vegans in Chinese restaurants. So it gradually acquired the name “Buddha bowl” to be associated with a healthy meal.

So, let us look at some of the easiest recipes of this health bowl:

1. Chole In A Bowl

Spice up your chickpeas by lightly roasting them with a few spices. Add some greens like stir-fried broccoli or spinach and avocado slices. You can also add more color to it with red bell peppers, olive oil, lemon juice, pepper and salt to taste.

There, your masala chole bowl is ready to eat!

2. Do It Korean Style!

Cook some rice, lentils, beans and steam some sweet potatoes or broccoli for this easy Buddha bowl recipe. What adds to its Korean flavor and taste is kimchi that is made from salted and fermented vegetables.

If you are not equipped with kimchi, simply use pickled cabbage or any vegetable to add to the taste of your bowl.
