One of God’s finest creations, Rabindranath Tagore was an iconic musician, poet and artist.

His immense contributions to society as a poet and novelist laid the groundwork for Indian literature.

One truly falls short of adjectives to describe his literary genius.

My grandfather recently inquired whether I still remembered the words to the Rabindra Sangeet songs he taught me as a child.

I nodded in reply before zoning out and trying to mentally map my memories of it.

The quick realization that we know so little about the man whose eminence echoes throughout the world even decades after his demise compelled me to delve deeper into his life and compile a list of some of the lesser known facts about India’s first Nobel Laureate.
