Smriti Irani Says Thank You To Jet Airways For Rejecting Her

National Teacher Awards Distribution Ceremony

Success is harsh and demanding.

Behind every successful person is a struggling past which was tough to overcome. Everyone loves hearing rejection stories of these famous people. This time, India’s youngest Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani shared her rejection story.

At an event organised by the Air Passengers Association of India in New Delhi, after she presented an award to a Jet Airways official, she said that she was rejected by Jet Airways when she applied for the job of cabin crew on the account of ‘not having a good personality’.

Remember, this is the same Smriti Irani who is a former model, television actress, and producer and, at present, an Indian politician. She is the current Minister of Textiles Department in the Government of India.

Irani represents the state of Gujarat as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house. Irani was one of the finalists of the beauty pageant Miss India 1998.

For a person who has achieved all this, leaves no doubt of not having a good personality. A television actress turned politician was thankful to the Jet Airways for rejecting her, after which she worked at McDonald’s and then the rest is apparent.

Forty years old, Mrs. Irani was as usual at her comical best. She said, “I don’t know if many people know that one of the first jobs that I lined up for was cabin crew at Jet (Airways). I was rejected because I was told I don’t have a good personality. Thank God for your rejection. After that, I got a job at McDonald’s and the rest is history,”.

Mrs. Irani’s life has been like the one that would need many overreactions of the repeated “Kya?Kya? Kay?”. Whether the controversies were about her educational qualifications, her meeting to an astrologer (being an educational minister), the “Dear” controversy or the recent reshuffling of her position from HRD Minister to Textile Minister, she has been in the news unfailingly.

We know the hoopla that was created for her abysmal qualifications but for a person who has shown such a remarkable achievement doesn’t have to show her abilities through her degrees.

PM Modi, at first, had selected her as the HRD Minister when she was only 38 and now transferred her to the Textile Department which shows that she has immense potential.

Sure, we aren’t satisfied with her performance in HRD but not everyone is suitable for every job.
Let’s just hope that this time, she will do well.
