Being an Indian

I feel the need of a closet as citizen of this country to hide my face from the rest of the world where Rapes, polygamy, domestic violence, murders, terrorism is forgotten about for that one Cricket match which came after a heinous crime committed. A little rage over the internet and the world moves on. Why doesn’t it affect us as individuals, why do we have to wait till the date where we are the victim? Religious men don’t have a problem with Homosexuals having a free voice, but them having a voice at all. It has nothing to do with sexuality; it’s the filth that these religious leaders are trying to sell. How many more number of examples do we need like Asaram to prove that they were not born to run the country and stick to their business?

Time eventually reveals what we’ve always known. In a country like ours, religion will only conceal the darkness followed by shadows of silence by the ones who are not allowed to live without fear. India, where the youth is without doubt divided by religions but at the same time united by indifference. But with the given circumstances, reality checks time and again will never bounce & show the ugly colours only in the course of time. In the name of God, the human created religion, Ironically, In the name of religion, he destroyed humanity. What’s next?

As a kid, I had a batch mate (I can’t take his name), who when we were out for recreational activities, excursions, his mother would accompany him to the psychiatrist as she thought him being a homo-sexual was a disorder. She had the burden from her in-laws to give birth to a boy from the very beginning. Handling the pressure of having a boy but homo-sexual was a crime. The outcome of their lives was pretty simple, the guy somehow faked his reality, moved to a new country & his mom died an early death (heart attack). When I look back, I wonder, who was wrong after-all? Why wasn’t he allowed a normal childhood? Was his mom wrong after-all? Who should he blame the pain he had to go through in his early years? There are many issues in society that need to be fixed, but who is ever going to be there for kids like him. I wonder if it bothers you, if it takes away a little happiness out of you. If education has anything at all to do with the way we wish to live. If we have as humans have left any scope for humanity to have a future at all.It has nothing to do with sexuality; it’s the filth that these religious leaders are trying to sell.
