Premier League Rewind : Liverpool 2 – 1 Chelsea : The Reds Shock Chelsea As Jurgen Klopp’s Tactics Run Riot At Stamford Bridge

-

It was a match of tactical prowess and an exhibition of bravado as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ran riot and won against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with a brilliant strike from Jordan Henderson.

Both the teams started off the game with plenty of attacking intent but Liverpool looked to be the busier do the two, bossing possession and playing plenty of passes forward.

Chelsea had some half decent chances and long balls floated in as well but it was all to no avail.

The 1st goal was struck early by Liverpool as Coutinho’s free kick from the left was swerved in and Dejan Lovren was at the far post to tap it home from close range.

This was surprisingly disastrous on Chelsea’s part as their entire defense had closed the middle of the box which allowed Lovren to capitalize and score with just 17 minutes played.

David Luiz was treated for a collision as he had started bleeding from his nose in the 21st minute but the Brazilian was back on his feet in no time.

Chelsea looked sharp in the midfield with Willian and Eden Hazard going on some mazy runs but Liverpool bossed them in the first half and frustrated them with good counter attacks and solid defending.

The second goal was somewhat of a masterpiece by Liverpool. It was a sumptuous strike by Jordan Henderson, who took a shot from the left wing into his stride and lashed a screamer from 25 yards out.

From then on, it was almost game, set and match for Liverpool. The midfield was passing well, the defenders were sitting pretty and people were already posting memes that Chelsea couldn’t go past a team which had James Milner as a left back.

Surprisingly enough, Chelsea had a moment of hope via Diego Costa, who scored his 5th goal in 5 games under Antonio Conte and got his team back into the game.

It was 2-1 but it made little difference to Liverpool as they were still the better team.

With still time to play, Chelsea continue to push forward but it was too little, too late for The Blues who were outplayed by a Liverpool side which was full of zeal and attacking flair.

With players like Coutinho, Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana finally finding form, it will be interesting to see how Klopp leads this side to glory this season.
