Music is the very essence of everything in my opinion. Music to me is like breathing. I don’t get tired of breathing. I don’t get tired of music.

That being said, there are various things I keep in my collection from discographies, documentaries, magazines, interview of musicians to going to live music concerts to enjoy and replenish. Though, in India, one can find it hard to have Rock Music Festivals just like the rest of the world organizes, still Internet makes it easy to enjoy it somehow.

Here are some of the best Music festivals that every Rock music lover would like to go to at least once.

Note: These are mentioned in random order and are not ranked.

Reading and Leeds Festivals

The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. Two massive festivals considered as one of the top most festivals due to high class and famous bands headlining and performing there.

The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby.

Reading festival, the original and senior of the two, is held at Little John’s Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading near Caversham Bridge.

The Reading festival, started in 1971, originated from the National Jazz festival which lasted from 1961-1970.

Live at Reading is a live CD/DVD by the American grunge band Nirvana released on November 2, 2009, chronicling its 1992 performance at the Reading Festival.

Their performance has gone down in rock history as a legendary performance but Dave Grohl, drummer of Nirvana, figured the show would be Nirvana’s last. “I really thought, ‘This will be a disaster, this will be the end of our career for sure,'” Grohl told in an interview. “Kurt had been in and out of rehab, communication in the band was beginning to be strained. Kurt was living in L.A., Krist and I were in Seattle. People weren’t even sure if we were going to show up. We rehearsed once, the night before, and it wasn’t good.” But then Nirvana ripped through a 25-song, 90-minute performance for an audience of 50,000. “It turned out to be a wonderful show, and it healed us for a little while,” said Grohl.

Moving on, in 1999, Leeds also started music festival similar to that of Reading which led to the combination of the two.

Rock, Metal, Indie Rock, Alternative Rock are a few amongst many genres that can be enjoyed at this fest.
