International fans, especially Indian fans more than anything live a sorry life away having little to no access to their favourite international shows, movies and more.

Whenever we see on social media of fans in the west enjoying and showing off the best of fandom merchandise, Indian fans are sitting with empty bags waiting for the day when those official merchandise will be available in their country.

A few privileged ones can and do order internationally, but then again not everyone has the cash to pay for the humongous shipping prices.

But that might not be the case anymore because, for all the GoT or Game of Thrones fanatics, there is extremely good news. You can now get Jon Snow’s sword right here in India.

Well, the above line might just have been an exaggeration, but the Windlass Steelcrafts, an imposing and intimidating factory nestled within the valleys of Dehradun is no exaggeration in itself.

The steel factory that has been in existence since 1943 when according to CEO Sarthak Gupta they created and supplied ‘khukris’ to the British Army’s Gorkha regiment. These khukris were then used by soldiers during the 2nd World War.

At that time, the factory had a mere number of just 50 workers but in present time they have expanded to having almost 500 workers.

Since then they have grown now to having factories in India, US, and Spain and along with supplying weaponry to armies across the world, they are also involved in the production of arms and armour for major Hollywood productions.

Apart from being the official supplier of swords to Game of Thrones, Windlass Steelcrafts have also been involved in supplying arms to big budget movies like 300, The Lord of The Rings, Skyfall, The Mummy and more.

Coming back to GoT, the factory has not only made Jon Snow’s epic sword called ‘Long Claw’ but also ‘Needle’ the trusted sword of Arya Stark, and the Oathkeeper sword that originally was Jaime Lannister’s but later on given to Brienne of Tarth to protect Sansa Stark along with the ensemble armour of Jon Snow and Eddard Stark.

There Is Something For The Fans Too

While the factory itself doesn’t sell official merchandise, but they do supply and create official merchandise for LARPing purposes and have a few licensed resellers who sell these items in India itself.

While Windlass’s Noida branch called the RS Windlass & Sons has memorabilia from productions like Harry Potter (their Gryffindor school uniform) or Star Wars (Obi-Wan Kenobi’s robes) and even 300 (cape of Themistocles).

Their other resellers have a wide range of productions that they sell merchandise of like Conan the Barbarian, The Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, and more.
