“Fine, we will go!” said my father tired and fed up of my brother and I shouting “please dad! Katti otherwise!” he then went on to be tired and fed up of us screaming “yay!!”
Two months fast forward, through the visa troubles and the shopping, saw us getting up at 3:30 am in the morning for our flight. “Why did you book an early morning flight?! Don’t you know it’s inconvenient for us!” said the brattish girl (points finger at myself), “because it’s a long flight and we can sleep during it as well beta” said the ever doting father.
THE LONDON DREAM
Big Ben in all its glory!
We visited the Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Dungeons, the London Eye, and the London Bridge. All of these places were amazing! A history lover’s fantasy!
If you want a brilliant tour of London’s dreary past, London dungeons and the tower of London are just the places for you! For just a nice touring experience and for those with a keen eye, make your way to the London Eye! And if you want something scientifically special, go visit the Greenwich meridian!
For all those who love posing, make your way to Madame Tussauds!
THE PASSIONATE PARIS
Paris lived up to its name; it truly was the city of love. Something about that city was just so peaceful, the fact that it really was beautiful also added to it. The air was warm and the city so very lovely. It calmed the nerves of anyone who entered having a bad day, relaxed the tired and filled love in the hearts of everyone.
We visited all the tourist attractions that we could, given the time span that we were there for. The must see there are: the Louvre for the Mona Lisa, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame De Paris, the Eiffel Tower and for those who love window shopping, Champs-Elysees.
THE SURREAL SWITZERLAND
It did live up to the reputation Bollywood gave it, valleys and mountains and greenery abound, everyone just wanted to sing a Bollywood song and make funny poses like those in movies.
The two places where we went was Jungfraujoch and Schilthron, both of which were peaks of mountains and equally beautiful.
Schilthron was a very adventurous experience with all of us acting like James Bond because of course, that is where a James Bond movie was shot, so for all the Bond fans that would be a religious spot for you all! Jungfraujoch is at a high altitude and even more Indian influence than Manali because it had a Bollywood café in it!
THE INVIGORATING ITALY
We first made our way to Venice and had a wonderful gondola ride, went for a boat tour to the three islands near it and drooled over the amazing historic sights there.
Rome was as invigorating as Venice, with us visiting the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and heading over to Vatican to see the Sistine chapel and the Trevi fountain! Also, Pisa to see the Leaning Tower, we all need somebody to lean on after all. We finally reached a place which resembled India with respect to geography, yes Italy was hot and we could finally take off our jackets and coats.
JOURNEY END AND TOUCHDOWN
“We shouldn’t go to the aquarium when we need to go to the airport in another 5 hours! We should leave for the airport only.” Said mum while sipping on tea, “I agree with your mother, dear” consented Mrs Waterman, “it will just take an hour aunty! Then we can head to the airport!” being an assertive creature, I finally made them agree.
Who knew mum and that Waterman aunty were right. We were late! And we finally did what we hated; we did those dramatic airport scenes of being late and running in like Usain Bolt’s family members. We finally boarded the plane and slept all the way through to India!
BRAGGING SESSION TO FRIENDS
“Tell us more about Europe!” they said, as I handed out key chains I got for them, “stay in India only, the food and the people are way better ” I said laughing.
It wouldn’t be quite correct of me to not give the credits of this travel to my mother’s best friend who had been living in London for a while and graciously invited my mum and all of us to stay with her. Not to forget my mother’s natural motherly instinct and my father’s ardent love for his wife and also the nagging children (yes it includes me too). This travel would’ve not been possible if the all of these conditions weren’t met.
