Child Free Zones In Flights – I Hate Kids Screaming & Hitting My Seat

-

For years children in public places have haunted me. Crying babies on board during long flight hours are worse. Much to my relief, finally IndiGo has decided to give child free zones in their flights a go!

IndiGo, a few days ago announced how they are going to have special child free quiet zones where children below the age of 12 years will not be allowed to sit.

Announcing the child-free zone, IndiGo released a statement saying, “Keeping in mind the comfort and convenience of all passengers row numbers one to four and 11 to 14 are generally kept as a Quiet Zone on IndiGo flights. These zones have been created for business travellers who prefer to use the quiet time to do their work.”

The airline further added to this restriction saying that the same age group of children won’t be allowed to sit on rows one, 12, and 13, which are known to have extra legroom and emergency exits.

Judging from the general reaction to this announcement, people were either like…

Or…

As for me, I definitely fall in the former category! I don’t see why people wouldn’t support the idea of having special quiet zones in flights. I mean almost all of us have been there where we had to sit through a long-haul flight with a baby screaming beside or a kid kicking the back of the seat.

Which, I am guessing, is most people who’ve ever been on a plane.

Besides, it’s beneficial to both parents travelling with kids and the co-passengers. The specific seats reserved for parents with kids will help them to interact with other parents. Besides, even the kids get to bond with each other which in turn might just reduce the amount of crying kids on board, you know?

I don’t understand that when something is actually done for everyone’s benefit in general why is it facing so much opposition?

If as a student or a person from working class, I want some quiet to complete my project or that PPT that I have to present in the next meeting, what is the harm? I am paying extra for my seat, I am giving you and your kid the freedom to do whatever without disturbing the other co-passengers! How on earth is it harmful to you in anyway?

And the entire line of ‘this didn’t happen hence this shouldn’t happen’ logic is stupid anyway!

You might be one of those who on humanitarian grounds do not want this to happen but me being a person suffered from babies long enough couldn’t thank IndiGo for such a move! I mean sure I can wear headphones to stop hearing those screams from kids but what if they don’t stop hitting me or my chair and I am helpless?
