Akshar Diwas- bigger and better

-

“When the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned; only then will we realize that we cannot eat money.” Using words as powerful as these, Akshar Diwas is back with a bang.

Project Akshar was started in the year 2011 with an aim to provide employment opportunities to victims of drug abuse and human trafficking, help the environment and provide affordable education to the under privileged, it soon reached a high point by successfully conducting the largest waste paper collection drive in the country. By largest, we mean LARGEST!

Enactus SSCBS was recognized by the Limca Book of Records for collecting 15.67 tonnes of paper from 25 locations in 12 hours on the 24th of March, 2013. With 500 volunteers and 35 RWAs, the team is fully energized to break its own record this year on March 24, 2014 (Sunday). Here are 5 things which you should expect from Akshar Diwas:

(a)  Become a Hero: And a superhero at that! This time Akshar Diwas focuses on super heroes. Their logo says it all.

(b) Save the environment: Ever wondered about saving trees and doing something about the environment? This is the perfect opportunity. By donating paper for recycling, you are not only saving the environment but also generating employment.

(c)  Limca Record: Last time the team managed to create Limca Record, and they plan to do it this time also by a larger margin. So, once it is featured you can proudly say that you had a hand in making it this big!

(d) Volunteer kits: Krishni Miglani, vice president of Enactus SSCBS says, “all volunteers will be given kits and they will contain surprise elements” What’s not to love about surprises?

(e)  Great food: After all the hard work, the team promises great food by The Lalit and Café Binge.

We wish them all the best and hope they achieve what they set out for! Three cheers for Project Akshar!
